Welcome to the website of the Judicial Service Commission. In this modern information age I cannot overemphasize the importance of a website as a tool for raising the profile of the Commission. The Judicial Service Commission is a Constitutional body established under Article 146 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda, 1995. The Commission is composed of 9 members with wide powers to facilitate improving the efficiency and effectiveness of justice administration in Uganda. The Commissioners are persons of integrity and unquestionable character. This website provides information on the composition, functions and mandate of the Commission. The website also provides information on the Commission Secretariat and its constituent departments.

Hon. Justice James Ogoola is the New Chairperson of the Commission. The commission body was sworn in on Thursday 2nd February 2011. these were sworn in at the High Court in Kampala by the chief Justice, Benjamin Odoki.

The commission is comprised of the following:

  • Hon Justice James Munange Ogoola- Chairperson.
  • Hon lady Justice Dr. Esther M Kisaakye- Deputy Chairperson.
  • Hon Peter Nyombi- Attorney General (Ex- Officio).
  • Hon Justice Bart Katureebe- Member.
  • Prof Fredrick E. Sempebwa- Member.
  • Dr. Laban Nnini Kirya- Member.
  • Mrs. Grace Oburu- Member.
  • Mr. Charles Okoth Owor- Member.

 

 
Whats' New ?

The Judicial Service Commission (the Commission) is an independent agency of the state established under the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda. It is a specialized appointing Commission enjoying broad oversight functions in relation to services delivered to the people by the Judiciary. The mandate and functions of the Commission are defined under Articles 146-151 of the Constitution.
